Culture...

Went to the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra on Sunday. Took with me three newbies who were eagerly waiting for this since we bought the tickets last year in September. The highlight for me was Rachmaninov's 2nd Symphony although there was a violin concerto of some sort which I wasn't familiar.

Anyways, of the newbies, one felt like vomiting the whole time and kept dabbing minyak angin while the other slept during the best movement of the 2nd Symphony. The one who slept later declared "we should do this more often next year" and that she found it "interesting".

The next time I go to the MPO, I will be going alone.

Lol
Hey did I tell you I have three fabulous live recordings of The Rachmaninoff 3rd on DVD? One by Horowitz when he was his 70's, another by Martha Argerich and the other Jorge Bolet!! They're all fab and so different from each other.

Not many into classic. I think I am quite alright with classic. I think you had the fever passed to me when you're in DMEC... -_-

Still it's a good thing :D

yes, the Horowitz is a silver jubilee concert recorded live when he was about 73 years old or something and the playing is so impressive (even though some of the octaves have slowed down somewhat) but the colours and new ideas he finds in the work are just so engrossing...
Bolet is another pianist I have grown to love a lot in the last 4 years or so - no other pianist has such a gorgeous sound!
I'll have to buy a dvd burner and burn it for you :) Trouble is, will the post open it and fine you??
