Chicken Feet

Man, after reading Karen Cheng's latest post, I'm having a craving for tim sum, and chicken feet in particular!

Why is it that Chinese eat the weirdest things? Someone joked that the Loch Ness Monster is no more coz it appeared to a bunch of Chinese tourists who immediately slaughtered it and consumed it to increase their vitality.

Chicken backside is also a delicacy and some people I know actually fought over it with their siblings when they were young.

Oh, I could go on and on. But the absolute worst things the Chinese eat are found in old musty brown Chinese medicine shops. Cockroaches, flies, lizards... all supposedly good for your health in one way or the other. *shudders*

Dang, I'm still craving for chicken feet. It's been a while since I last had tim sum... maybe after my Cambodia trip. Ha, where they eat tarantulas.

Man, for some reason, I have never gotten into the chicken feet. Does that make me less chinese?

You won't believe this, I ate terrapin's meat last Saturday without knowing it was a terrapin swimming in the black soup!

I don't want to be Chinese anymore...

well the French eat pretty full on stuff as well...I had duck's heart (served nearly raw) as an entree for my 30th b'day in Paris! I saw snails and stuff like that - the snails looked liked a huge version of the siput you get in gardens...yuks!

I forgot to mention I tried Foie Gras as well which is so delicious and delicate - its a bit like pate but made out of goose liver. Know how the French prepare it? Apparently they feed the goose with some kind of food that makes its liver bloat up unnaturally until it bursts then they harvest it. I wonder why animal rights society haven't got on to that! Tasty but expensive....
I will bring back some for you to try when I come back from Paris hahah!
